Alexander MacLeod and Jessie MacDonald

Alexander MacLeod

A big thank you to my cousin, Anne Young, who corrected my original post that Alexander MacLeod might have been born on Scalpay, Isle of Harris, Scotland. According to her research he was the son of Donald MacLeod and Margaret MacAulay of 17 Knock, Isle of Lewis, Scotland. She has identified the family in the census returns for 1841 and 1851. She also found a death record in 1868 aged 95, so that suggests that Alexander MacLeod was born about 1773.

Donald MacLeod was the son of Murdo Macleod and Margaret Morrison.

Work is ongoing to discover more information about this couple.
