Peter Wright and Margaret Byrne

Peter Warden Wright

According the various nineteenth century census returns Peter Warden Wright was born in Scotland about 1819. From information extracted from his marriage certificate and the censuses, we know his parents were Harriet and Patrick Wright.

I have searched the Scottish Old Parochial Records that are available online and there are many people called Peter Wright, born at that time but none with the correct parents names, so more work is needed to trace this family.

Margaret Byrne

Margaret Byrne was born in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, England about 1832, based on census information from later years.

Under Development

This web page is under development. I need to do more research into this family, but I have decided to publish what I have currently uncovered, while work continues.

Marriage

Peter Warden Wright, like his son Peter MacFie Wright, worked as a Dyer. He declares his place of birth to be Scotland. He seems to have moved around from Scotland to Warrington and then Kidderminster. All centres of carpet manufacture.

While in Kidderminster he seems to have met and married Margaret Byrne. Peter was a widower and also thirteen years older than his bride. Together they raised a family of four sons and two daughters.

Margaret Byrne

Margaret died on the 22 December 1865 at the age of 55. She had been living at Greenhill, Kidderminster.

Peter Warden Wright

Peter Wright’s death, is well recorded, largely because of the unusual nature of the circumstances.

He accidentally ran a thorn into his hand. As a result the wound became infected and his consequent death. The article descibes him as a man “of full habit” which was a nineteenth century euphemism for corpulent. The implication seems to be that his physical size might in some way have contributed to his death.
